What is the United Homecoming?
The families of the Trailer Court in Cochrane have received eviction notices effective August 31, 2007. The land their homes sit on has been sold to make way for a condominium development. Despite their efforts to date, many are still in challenging situations. United Homecoming is a community-based initiative to help these families. It is about neighbours helping neighbours, creating a bridge to a new beginning.

Who leads United Homecoming?
United Homecoming is lead by a group of 14 citizens who want to help our neighbours. The group is wide ranging in nature and includes representation from the trailer court residents.

How can I get involved?
There are a number of ways you can get involved:
  • Meet with your neighbours in the trailer park
  • Lend a helping hand with packing, cleanup, or moving
  • Donate services to help with over 30 families relocating
  • Make a tax deductible contribution

How do I know my donation will get to the right place?
The United Homecoming initiative has put in place the controls to ensure that donations received will be used appropriately with full transparency while maintaining confidentiality. Any funds received that are above the needs of the residents will be used to fund affordable housing in Cochrane.

If I donate, will I get a tax receipt?
Yes, donations to the United Homecoming initiative will be receipted for tax purposes. All donations are handled by the Family Community and Social Services (FCSS) group within the Town of Cochrane.

How can I donate and where?
FCSS can receive cheques, Visa, MasterCard and debit donations at 209-2nd Avenue W., Cochrane, AB. If you wish to mail a cheque, please send it to Family Services c/o Town of Cochrane, 101 RancheHouse Road, Cochrane, AB, T4C 2K8
